Pelican Park Recreation Centre – Reopening Announcement
Following a comprehensive revitalisation project that began in January 2025, we are excited to share that Pelican Park Recreation Centre is nearly ready to reopen! These works have ensured the facility is future-ready, sustainable and better equipped to serve our community.
We can confirm that our Aquatic areas and Gym will reopen from 6.00am on Monday 8 September 2025*
As we complete final enhancements to support new programs and services, Group Fitness classes will continue at our pop-up locations at Hastings Community Hub and Somerville Recreation Centre until further notice.
CONNECT30 and Burn It functional gym sessions will return to the Health Club space at Pelican Park from reopening day.
While the revitalisation extended beyond the original timeline, the transformation will be well worth the wait. The extra time has allowed us to perfect every detail, ensuring upgraded equipment and refreshed facilities are ready for you to enjoy. We’ve also expanded our programming to help keep you motivated and connected to your health and fitness goals.
The revitalisation works include
- Brand-new equipment & revitalised spaces, including upgraded cardio machines & dedicated recovery zone
- HVAC system replacement for improved climate control
- Repairs to the pool shell to enhance safety and longevity
- Infrastructure upgrades to essential pool plant & equipment
- Enhancements to improve member accessibility & allow for additional programs & services, with upgraded change rooms & a refurbished family change village
- 24/7 Gym access
- Reformer Pilates Studio
- Dedicated Wellness Centre with ice baths and infrared saunas

POP UP VENUE INFORMATION
PELICAN PARK POP UP GYM
The Pop-Up Gym will close at 9.00pm on Friday 5 September 2025 to allow our team to relocate equipment back into Pelican Park ahead of reopening. We will still be operating as per below until this time.
- Monday to Friday 6am - 9pm
- Weekends 8am - 7pm
- Public Holidays 8am - 4pm
HASTINGS COMMUNITY HUB & SOMERVILLE RECREATION CENTRE
We’re excited to be launching a new Wellness Centre adjacent to the Group Fitness Studio which is currently undergoing extensive renovations.
As we await its completion, Group Fitness classes will continue as scheduled at Hastings Community Hub and Somerville Recreation Centre. All Aqua Classes, CONNECT30, and Burn It will return to Pelican Park from 8 September 2025.

- Agestrong Classes - focused on building strength and supporting wellness.
- Land-Based ‘Aqua’ Classes - a low-impact workout on dry land.
CRIB POINT OUTDOOR POOL
Crib Point Pool will close from Monday 8 September and reopen for weekend use only in November, in line with seasonal operations. Until this time, we will continue operating with the following hours.
- Monday to Friday 6am - 11am & 2pm - 6.30pm
- Weekends 8am - 4pm
- Public Holidays 8am - 12pm
